About Tom Smith

Thomas W. Smith, MBA, CMA

Tom Smith is a finance guy whose interest in business goes considerably beyond traditional accounting and finance areas.   His collaborative approach and views of organizational dynamics complement his technical abilities.  He provides sound insights and practical solutions to a variety of challenges faced by individuals and businesses.

Tom’s career includes extensive experience in manufacturing, marketing services, and electronics industries.  With a Fortune 1000 manufacturer, his efforts contributed directly and consistently to numerous cost reduction, systems enhancement, and process improvement initiatives.   As a CFO in marketing services, Tom’s financial skills were instrumental in a middle-market company’s ability to grow and achieve record earnings. Within his role with a worldwide electronics company, he is an adaptive contributor, leveraging a strong blend of both financial and soft skills to help the organization and its teams succeed.

Tom holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Delaware and has a master’s degree in business administration (MBA) from Drexel University’s Lebow College of Business.  He is a member of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA)  and is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA).  In addition, Tom is a graduate of Leadership Lancaster (PA), a past recipient of the Central Pennsylvania Business Journal’s “Forty Under 40” award, and has extensive experience as a non-profit organization board member and officer.

Tom is also a perennially amateur musician, an aspiring author, serves on the AFP editorial board, and is a semi-competitive distance runner.  In addition, spectator sports, reading, music, leisure travel, and fitness are other key areas of interest and endeavor.  Follow him on Twitter (@TWS_1).
